CEO of Alternative Network UK ISP LightSpeed Broadband Steps Down
Alternative network provider LightSpeed Broadband, which has already deployed their full fibre (FTTP) network to cover 250,000 premises across the East of England and Midlands, has this morning confirmed to ISPreview that Brett Shepherd, the CEO of LightSpeed – the group behind LightSpeed Broadband and LightSpeed Networks – has “stepped down“.
Brett is known to have held the position since 2022 and has thus helped to steer the company through plenty of big changes. The provider, which in 2023 was acquired by Kompass Kapital (here) after suffering some job cuts and a build slowdown in the East of England (here), is currently busy deploying across parts of various market towns in South Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Staffordshire, Cheshire, Cambridgeshire, and Rutland.
NOTE: So far as we’re aware, LightSpeed are still aiming to “connect 400,000 homes and businesses by 2027”.
ISPreview’s sources were unclear on why Brett has decided to step down, but LightSpeed has confirmed that Liam Hickey, who is currently the group’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), has now assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
A Spokesperson for LightSpeed told ISPreview:
“Brett has been instrumental in shaping LightSpeed through a significant phase in its development, and we thank him for his leadership, commitment and contribution over the last few years. Liam has been a key part of the business throughout that period and provides strong continuity as CEO. The business continues to operate as normal and remains focused on its current priorities.”
